Dr Douglas Queen

Dr. Douglas Queen, is a wound care thought leader and researcher, and co-founded the International Wound Journal alongside Dr. Keith Harding in 2004. Dr. Queen brings over 30 years of international expertise in commercial development, market access and med-tech R&D. Dr. Queen is one of the industry’s leading thought leaders in wound care and brings a unique combination of clinical knowledge and business acumen to the broader healthcare arena. Douglas received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering studying Wound Care Dressings in 1986 from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK, and also earned his MBA from Manchester Business School, University of Manchester, UK in 1996.

Dr Gary Sibbald

Dr Sibbald is a dermatologist and internist with a special interest in wound care and education. He is a professor of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Toronto and an international wound care key opinion leader (educator, clinician and clinical researcher). Dr Sibbald is co-founder of the Canadian Association of Wound Care and was the former Director of the Wound Healing Clinic, Women’s College Hospital (1994-2009). He is also a previous president of the World Union of Wound Healing Societies (2012 – 2016).

Mariam Botros

As CEO of Wounds Canada, Mariam is responsible for both the strategic direction and day-to-day operations of the organization. She is a chiropodist and diabetes educator by training and is currently completing a Master’s in Educational Leadership degree. Mariam has also published, developed and lectured in multiple programs both nationally and internationally in the area of diabetic foot complications and amputation prevention. Through her different roles as an executive director, health-care practitioner and educator, researcher and faculty member for many well-recognized organizations, Mariam has extensive practical and professional experience.

Crystal McCallum

Crystal oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs and resources. Crystal deeply cares about wound prevention and management, especially after losing her grandfather due to lower-limb amputation secondary to diabetes. She is passionate about educating in the medical community, working as a Lecturer for Western University's Master of Clinical Science in Wound Healing Program and a private wound care consultant.

Peggy Ahearn

Peggy’s present responsibilities include strategic planning, business development and client relationships at Wounds Canada. Her career in health care crosses fields of clinical care, sales, marketing, publishing and not-for-profit management. Her experience as a Senior Product Manager for Wound Care for Sancella (now Mölnlycke) introduced her into her current specialty. For over 15 years, she was President of The Medicine Group, a communications company specializing in Continuing Medical Education (CME). From 2011 through 2013, Peggy was Executive Director of the Canadian Association of Wound Care.
