About this Program
This educational event is aimed at nurse practitioners, physicians, chiropodists/podiatrists and pharmacists who self-identify as competent in their knowledge of diabetic foot complication prevention, assessment and management. The event builds on the concepts and content in the Wounds Canada document, Best Practice Recommendations for the Prevention and Management of Diabetic Foot Ulcers and provides students with the most recent information in a form they cause use immediately. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate of attendance.

Target Competencies:
At the end of this educational event, students will be able to:
- Complete the components of a comprehensive assessment for a person with or at risk for a diabetic foot complication
- Discuss risk factors that contribute to the development of diabetic foot complications
- Create agreed-upon goals of care with people with diabetes who have or who are at risk for a foot complication
- Assemble an integrated wound team
- Develop, implement, and evaluate an individual-specific plan of care to manage and prevent diabetic foot complications
- Identify organizational changes that can support risk reduction of diabetic foot complications and amputations prevention
