Hello from Wounds Canada!

2022 is shaping up to be our most ambitious year yet as we work towards our goal of establishing a Canada where preventable wounds do not occur and persons living with wounds receive the best possible care. As we move into the second quarter of 2022, we are embracing continuous improvement, creativity and change while taking tangible steps to further positively impact the lives of patients and their caregivers. We look forward to collaborating with you in a variety of ways this year, from coming together to recognize the importance of the patient experience at our new conference to hearing your essential feedback at our next industry meeting and town hall. Thank you for being our partners in action as we prioritize building a strong, diverse and capable wound care community rooted in a culture of continual learning and growth.

Our annual conferences continue to be a cornerstone of our education strategy as we strive to build a culture of continual learning and achieve our overall mission of advancing wound prevention and care for Canadians. Check out our ambitious and exciting lineup for this year, which includes a hybrid learning model and a brand-new program:

At Wounds Canada, we believe centring the voice of the patient is crucial to enacting change in the health-care system and delivering the best possible wound care. That's why we're proud to be hosting “Our Voices, Our Stories”—a national wound care patient experience conference. This unique two-day learning, outreach and knowledge exchange event is funded through a grant from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, led by Drs. Ide Costa, Catherine Phillips and Michelle Spadoni of Lakehead University, and Dr. Pilar Plazas of Queen's University, in collaboration with Wounds Canada. The purpose of this conference is to bring together people impacted by complex wounds, researchers, health and social service providers, educators, community leaders and policy makers.

Will you join us? Registration is completely free, and this unique two-day event will provide industry leaders like yourself with important insight into and understanding of the need for improvement in wound care and prevention in Canada. As a community, participants will listen to individuals’ and families’ stories of the impact of hard-to-heal wounds on their lives, identify the gaps and synergies in wound care provision and identify areas in which holistic wound management can be enacted. 

Wounds Canada values your unique perspective and experience as a wound care leader in the industry. That's why we would love to connect with you and other members of the community at the next industry meeting on May 12 from 3 to 4:30 p.m. We're always looking for new members! What are clinicians' expectations when it comes to working with industry? Our next town hall takes place in the fall, and it's designed to develop a more thorough understanding of the voice of clinicians as it relates to industry. This highly anticipated event will give you and other industry professionals a chance to pick the pick the brains of a diverse group of wound care clinicians. We're currently assembling a lineup of guest clinician speakers who are eager to share their thoughts, experiences and perspectives with you. Keep your eyes peeled for our forthcoming survey so you can have your say on the  questions we'll be asking clinicians in preparation for the event!
