Accredited Wound Care Champion Program: Ontario Northern Hospitals (Acute) Application (ACUTE '26-'27 Cohort 2-AWCCP AP01))

Wounds Canada is now accepting applications to the Accredited Wound Care Champion Program from Ontario Regulated Health Care Professionals currently employed in the Acute Care sector who reside and work within Northern Ontario.

If you are not employed by one of the hospitals listed, please do not apply for this program. All applications completed in full must be received by Thursday, Oct 1, 2026 11:59 pm EST. PLEASE NOTE incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Important Deadlines
Notification of Acceptance/Declines: All applicants will receive notification of their status within one week of submission
If Accepted: All Applicants must respond to their acceptance within one week of receipt and formally indicate acceptance of a funded position
Orientation: Successful applicants will be required to review an online program Orientation

Admission will be based on:

1. Applicant meeting all deadlines for application and acceptance of offer of admission
2. Quality of application Applicants (based on submission of goals and plans for knowledge application in the workplace)
3. Attention to geographic representation
4. Attention to a mix of organization settings related to size
5. Evidence of strong organization support in program completion and utilization
6. For the Wound Care Champion Program attention to interprofessional representation.

Wound Care Champion Program Applicant Commitment

In applying for this program, I commit to:

Having support from my direct supervisor to enrol in and complete this program
Submitting the approval of my employer in the above provided Letter of Support
Having ready and reliable access to a computer and the internet to engage in the program and complete all program requirements
The ability to devote 6-8 hrs per week to engage fully in and complete the course work including: readings, webinars (synchronous and asynchronous), assignments, presentations, and discussion forum requirements
Attending the 3 day in person Skills Lab and Assessment Days in Markham, ON, from January 20 to 22, 2027. There will be reimbursement available for travel and accommodatio
Attending the initial program orientation, which will be offered via Zoom on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. ET.
Beginning the program no later than Tuesday, October 27, 2026.

I acknowledge that all information shared in the program including posts in the learning community and data collected via program surveys may be used at the discretion of Wounds Canada and RNAO for research and to support program evaluation, continuous improvement initiatives and other activities. Results may be shared in reports, presentations and publications.
