Wound Care for Primary Care Practitioners (B100NNL) London March 18, 2019

Registration is closed for this event

This interactive educational event builds on the contents of the Wounds Canada document “Best Practice Recommendations for the Prevention and Management of Wounds” and takes a more in-depth look at the components and application of the Wound Prevention and Management Cycle (WPMC) from the perspective of a primary care provider. Topics include a review of the steps of the WPMC and components of comprehensive patient, wound, environment and health systems assessments—with a focus on differential diagnoses and common misdiagnoses—working as part of an integrated team and creating, evaluating and modifying patient-centred goals and plans of care including, but not limited to, treating the cause and co-factors, addressing wound pain and symptoms, wound debridement, infection and moisture management, prescribing options, use of advanced therapies and appropriate referrals. Upon completion, students will receive a certificate of attendance.
