Abstract:  The rate of death for patients with diabetic foot ulcers is 2.5 times higher than for patients with diabetes who do not have diabetic foot ulcers. Ulceration is also correlated to a higher mortality rate than the most frequent oncological diseases or cancers. A skillful interprofessional team and timely therapeutic strategies are essential for effectively managing diabetic foot ulcers, and a multidisciplinary approach can have a substantial impact in the prognosis of these patients.
