This chapter highlights the importance of promoting skin health and provides an overview of the prevention and management of wounds using general best-practice-based principles. The importance of holistically assessing the patient within their environment and following the five steps of the Wound Prevention and Management Cycle (Assess and/or Reassess, Set Goals, Assemble the Team, Establish and Implement a Plan of Care, Evaluate Outcomes) for every patient regardless of risk and wound type are explained. This chapter also contains a comprehensive appendix on nutrition for skin health, wound prevention and wound healing.
