The Patient Bill of Rights and Responsibilities in Wound Prevention and Care (PBoRR-WPC) is a national, co-created framework developed to promote equitable, person-centred and high-quality wound prevention and care across Canada. Created through the Our Voices, Our Stories initiative, the document incorporates the perspectives of people with lived experience, care partners, health-care providers, researchers and policymakers. It outlines 12 fundamental patient rights and corresponding responsibilities, emphasizing timely access to care, shared decision-making, cultural safety, effective communication, pain management and continuity of care. Designed as a living document, the PBoRR-WPC aims to strengthen collaboration among patients, families, providers and health systems while supporting improved wound care outcomes and ongoing quality improvement. This special Supplement presents the Patient Bill of Rights and Responsibilities in Wound Prevention and Care in its entirety.
