This article argues that the main barrier to advancing wound care is not a lack of technology but challenges within health-care systems. Innovations such as smart dressings, artificial intelligence and remote monitoring have the potential to improve wound management, yet adoption is often limited by reimbursement structures, workflow issues and policy constraints. Comparing Canadian and U.S. systems, the author concludes that meaningful progress requires better integration of existing innovations and a stronger focus on preventive care.
